   This cooler is what you expect from Yeti. Even loaded you can through over one shoulder without worrying about damaging the shoulder strap. When on and loaded the adjustments make it very balanced and comfortable.

   Expensive but expect to last for years … first time out immediately got compliments.

   Another great yeti product. I have several “high performance” coolers of various brands and this yeti is probably my most versatile cooler. The staying power keeping things cold is outstanding. I use a large and small yeti ice block and keeps everything very cold without using any ice cubes. Capacity is quite good but gets heavy when full (naturally). The straps are comfortable and the chest strap helps take the load off my shoulders. Would recommend a sidekick since there is no on board pockets/storage. I have used this many times since the summer and it does not disappoint. Expensive but very high quality.

   I live in Florida. We are constantly in the sun for kids events or at the beach. With the YETI name, you obviously pay a premium… but the amount of use I will get out of it combined with the 3 year warranty makes sense for me. So far it has been the best portable cooler I could ask for, holds temp and ice well. This will be our portable go to. There is such attention to detail in every aspect of this bag and I have no doubt it will hold up over the years. Ultimately I went with the bookbag to free my hands carrying other stuff. It was a no brainer for my situation and is actually bigger than I expected. Overpriced? Yes. High quality? Yes.

   If you are on the fence about this cooler (especially because of the price) I can tell you–you won’t find anything comparable in a backpack cooler in terms of quality. It is large, and is heavy when filled, but because the weight is distributed so well due to the design of the cooler and the straps, it is much easier than lugging (or rolling) a large cooler across the sand, or uneven surfaces (and steps!) It’s also great that your hands are free- in my case to carry other things to the beach! That said, it is an all-around good investment as I’m sure it will last for years.

   Let me just start off by saying I have both yeti and rtic coolers and each have their positives and negatives. I purchased the yeti backpack at the same time as the rtic to see which I would like best. Even at double the price the yeti won by a landslide. Heres why: 1. The yeti’s straps are minimalistic yet strong and comfortable when you have the pack on, even when it is full. It comes with a removable abdomen strap which is great since I havent found a need for it yet, but will be glad I have it when I need it. It has a nice strong handle on top that makes it easy to move around once you take it off. The rtic on the other hand has straps EVERYWHERE except for on top! Not only are they really long and abundant but you cant even remove the abdomen strap which have a side profile so you’re forced to use it. Then when you do use the strap it doesn’t even go around your waist but instead your belly button, and I have had numerous people try it on to make sure its not just cause im 6’2. 2. The yeti uses a molle system across the entire pack and includes 1 “connecting buckle” (idk what its called lol) that allows you to strap something down to the front. Being that I have tons of tactical gear it is easy for me to attach anything else I may need for the day right to the pack to minimalize the amount of bags I have to carry. The rtic uses classic bungee cords on the front that you can pull tight and thats its… They made sure to include the side handles like on the yeti however the top “carry handle” is atrocious and gets really annoying when trying to actually wear the backpack. Oh and dont get me started with trying to move it around inside the truck without getting it caught on every little thing…. 3. (The deal breaker) The yeti uses a hazmat zipper and I am 100% confident that it will never tear and will last for a very long time. It can be quite difficult to open from certain angles, but thats a good problem to have in my book. Yeti is so confident in this zipper that they just slapped a handle on the lid and the zipper takes the strain. The rtic on the other hand uses a classic black zipper with a waterproof shell that you would find on something like a snow jacket. It feels flimsy and I have read numerous reviews on all soft rtic coolers saying the zippers wear out after a year or so and I can see why. And it also shows why they made that annoying carrying handle instead of just a handle on top like the yeti. 4. The material of the yeti is “puncture proof” and I am not sure if it will stop something like a knife being stabbed straight at it but I can almost guarantee that it wont get torn by any branches or rocks at a campsite or river. The inside feels very sturdy too and seems like it will last through alot of sharp ice being thrown into it. The fact that you just take it outside and hose it off to clean it is also very convenient. The rtic on the other hand feels decent on the outside, but when you look inside you its a different story. The lining on the inner walls isnt even flush with the actual material the pack is made out of so it looks more like a bag inside of a garbage can. Definitely doesnt seem like it is puncture proof and just looks sloppy overall. Conclusion: Its exactly as you’d expect it to be. Its a soft yeti cooler you can carry on your back that works very well. It does float and is basically waterproof, just don’t leave it on its side or it will leak after a few hours. Don’t expect it to keep ice frozen for a week like the hard coolers do, but you can rest assured that your ice will stay frozen all day when you’re at the beach in direct sunlight. Overall its double the price cause its double the product in that category. I use this and my rtic54 the most so if you want the best bang for your buck get yeti soft coolers and rtic hard coolers.

   Keeps the drinks and snacks cold. Bought it a few months back and it’s gotten it’s share of travel and use. From camping, Hollywood Bowl concerts, tailgates to Air travel with no “Carry-On” issues btw. I try to cool it with a frozen (milk), gallon of water the day before use and it helps keep my ice solid and beverages colder longer (when I can). Also, bought the Yeti retractable bottle opener and soft pouch for it and they both fit good and work good. Again, no “Carry-On” issues with airlines, just compliments. Pack my clothes in it when flying and fill it up with beverages from a mart near the hotel and free ice from the hotel as well. So it saves money by not drinking $8-$10.00 dollar Bud’s at the hotel bar whenever possible. Doesn’t have the symmetrical square crisp shape it had when I first got it, but it’s had some tough lovin’ at times. Clean it with a mild soap/water mixture and shower rag and dry it thoroughly with a dry towel and air dry outside for good measure. Lubricate the zipper teeth with the lip balm looking tube that came with it after every cleaning but mostly I’ll use Cabela’s Food-Grade Lubricating Grease in order to save the small tube for travel. Store it next to it’s little brother the Yeti Hopper 8(will review soon), in a cool dry Man-Cave. Have detected no leaks and/or mildew or odor. Holds tough! Tons of compliments! Would recommend. No regrets! Hope this helps.

   I love this cooler and think its an awesome idea, my wife who is all of 5′ tall and 110lbs does not. In fact even though the cooler is amazing at doing its job of keeping our drinks ice cold she prefers to take a small coleman soft shell cooler due to it being lighter and overall smaller making it easier for her to carry. I had loaded this cooler with I don’t even know how many cans and a gallon of milk, threw it over my shoulders and I was fine, but my wife wanted no part of putting this cooler on her back. All comes down to personal preference I guess but overall based on the coolers performance and the fact that its a backpack, I would buy another and recommend it to everyone.

    We spend weekends outside all summer for competitions. We needed something wash to carry along with all our other gear so the backpack was ideal. Keeps things very cold out in the hot Ontario sun all day long. Ice is half melted by the end of the day so make sure items are in watertight containers. Couldn’t find the product in stores so this was a great option at the same price as elsewhere.
